About the Show

Step into a fictional Philly nightlife, where Club Capulet currently leads the scene thanks to the success of its star, the gender-bending draglesque performer, Juliette. Curious to see what the fuss is all about, performers from a rival club, Montague’s, sneak into a show at Club Capulet.

Montague’s star, Romeo, is expecting to have a drink, throw some shade, and maybe steal an idea or two… only to have his heart stolen instead…

If you’ve ever seen Shakespeare’s classic play, you know what (probably) comes next… but you’ve likely never experienced it like this!

Combining burlesque, drag arts, immersive theater, and some of Philly’s finest operatic performers, Prismatic Arts Ensemble is bringing a unique twist to Gounod’s famous operatic setting of Romeo and Juliet that you won't want to miss!

Sung in French with a new translation projected in English.

 FAQs

  • Whatever makes you feel great! Prismatic is on a mission to remove the stuffiness from the spaces we occupy, so you only need to dress up if you want to! However, we do get super excited when audience members dress to match the theme of our immersive shows, so if that's up your alley, we'd be thrilled. If not, that's okay, too!

  • That's okay! Some of us don't speak French either! We will have an English translation of the lyrics projected in a place that is easy for audience members to read, while also staying focused on the action!

  • Usually, audiences at the opera are only encouraged to clap at the end of a big aria (moments when a solo singer gets to show off some vocal fireworks) and the end of the act. However, we love to hear from our audience more frequently than that. If you love what you hear, clap! If you hate the bad guy, boo him! Laugh at our jokes, shout "bravo", etc. to your heart's content.

  • Please do! We only ask a few things:

    1. Please silence your phone so that you don't disturb your neighbor with the fake "shutter" sound 📸

    2. Please turn off your flash and dim your screen so as not to disturb the experience of those around you.
